Hello and Welcome.
I am a parent, educator, therapist, yoga instructor and knitter. I moved to St Stephen, New Brunswick in 2018 to work as a school counsellor after spending 13 years living on the beautiful Kingston Peninsula and teaching at number of schools in the Saint John area. I feel lucky to have made a new home in Charlotte County and privileged to bring more therapy, consulting, and wellness services to this area.
Before starting 3 Rivers Counselling, I worked as an educator for 13 years. I loved this work and continue to love teaching. I bring this part of myself to my work as a therapist. I believe that therapy is a collaborative relationship and part of my work is to help you to understand why or how a technique or skill might work. Working as a teacher with students who have experienced adversity and trauma inspired and motivated me to better understand our nervous system, and how trauma and anxiety impact our daily lives. In the classroom, I saw the benefits of mindfulness, movement and breathwork and realized that I wanted to learn more about trauma, about therapy and about helping people find their way through challenges.
I completed a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University and immediately began work as a school counsellor. I have worked with students of all ages and their families. In 2019, I started 3 Rivers Counselling in St Stephen, NB. I now offer virtual counselling and therapeutic workshops across Canada as well as in-person counselling in St Stephen, New Brunswick.
While I draw from Solution focused, Mindfulness, and Somatic Approaches I most influenced by ACT in my therapeutic approach. My love of teaching and learning is ever present in my life and work. I am continually working on professional development and participating in further training including: ACT for anxiety and depression, Trauma focused ACT, Emotion Focused Therapy, One at a Time Brief Therapy, Attachment Competency and Regulation framework for Trauma, Family Systems Assessment, ADHD Certified Coaching, and Trauma Informed Yoga.
It is a privilege to work with people in times of vulnerability and struggle and a joy to witness their growth.
I am happy to book a 15 minute phone consult at no charge to answer any questions you have about beginning therapy, finding a workshop that fits your needs, or booking a yoga or wellness class for a group. Send me an email and let's talk!
