Anxiety Therapy
at 3 Rivers Counselling

For the racing mind that won't let you rest

You know the feeling of lying awake running through everything that could go sideways tomorrow, even though tomorrow is, by any reasonable measure, fine. The tight chest before you open an email you've been avoiding. The way your body says “something is wrong” long before your mind can explain what.

You might be the person everyone describes as put-together — the one who handles things, who shows up, who doesn't let it show. And underneath that, a low hum of dread that never fully turns off. Or maybe it's louder than a hum. Maybe it's panic that arrives without warning, or worry that's started shaping which rooms you walk into and which ones you avoid.

You've probably already tried to think your way out of it. Reasoned with yourself. Made lists, made plans, told yourself it's not that bad. Sometimes that helps. Often, it just means you're now anxious and exhausted from trying to manage the anxiety.

That's not a failure of effort. Anxiety isn't a thinking problem you can out-logic — it's a nervous system that's learned to stay on alert, and it responds to being met, not argued with.

What Therapy For Anxiety Actually Looks Like Here

We don't start by treating anxiety as a flaw to correct. We start by understanding what your nervous system has learned, why it learned it, and what it would take to help it feel safe enough to settle.

That might mean:

  • Understanding the specific shape your anxiety takes — generalized worry, panic, social anxiety, health anxiety, anxiety tied to a particular event or season of life — because the right approach depends on the shape, not just the label

  • Working with the body, not just the thoughts, since anxiety lives in the nervous system as much as the mind

  • Drawing on approaches like CBT, ACT, somatic and polyvagal-informed therapy, and EMDR where past experience is feeding the present-day anxiety

  • Building real, usable tools for the moments anxiety shows up — not just talking about anxiety in the abstract

  • Making space for the parts of you that are tired of managing this alone

Anxiety Therapy -
In-Person or Virtual

Sessions are available in-person in St. Stephen, and we work with clients throughout St. Andrews, St. George, Blacks Harbour, McAdam, and every community in between — as well as anywhere else in New Brunswick or across Canada.

If you're not local to Charlotte County, that changes nothing about the quality or depth of the work. Virtual EMDR, virtual CBT, virtual somatic work — all of it translates well to a screen, and many clients find the comfort of their own space actually helps the work go deeper.
